Michael is a Licensed Associate Counselor who received his counseling degree from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. He has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings and has an extensive background in pastoral ministry. Michael works with teens through older adults and deals with a broad range of issues including depression, anxiety, grief, anger management, premarital and marital relationship/issues, family and friendship relationship problems, and spiritual issues. And he also works with couples to nurture and grow their relationship. The couple can take their “average” relationship and seek to make it great. But if the couple is in crisis mode we can work toward a stage of better health. He mainly uses Cognitive Behavioral therapy and is also training in the Gottman method of Couples therapy.
Michael and his wife have four children, ages one through nineteen. They enjoy engaging with their children as they continue to grow. Michael and his wife became interested in foster care and adoption over the past few years. And they eventually fostered and adopted their one-and two-year-old children.
My Goals as a Counselor of singles and couples.
The relationship between counselor and client is key in therapy. Because of this, a couple of mottos Michael lives by is to love your neighbor (Mark 12:31) and seek to become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some (I Corinthians 9:22). Let Michael walk alongside you as you seek to be transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2). This can be a slow and challenging process at times. As the old adage goes, life is not a sprint…it is a marathon. Read more about the approaches I use here with singles and couples: https://michaelwilliamslac.com/theories-approaches-used/ . Blessings to you and your family.
